A portrait requested by the Maeng family's to celebrate their residence extension in Canada.  As many of us know, the Maengs had a very difficult summer and it was an honour to share in their excitement!

WAGONSTAGE CHILDREN'S THEATRE 2011

All images © Eric Dyck 2011

I think this is my 3rd or 4th poster for Wagonstage's annual children's production. Great concept and a lot of fun to draw! Big thanks to Brian Dorscht for all of his help coordinating this project.

Hey, Calgary AB, go check out Don Marco this summer!

Urban Legends show in Halifax

I've got work hanging on a wall in the Argyle Gallery on Lower Water St in Halifax. You'll find in humbly sandwiched somewhere in between the jaw-dropping work of Justin, Mike & Mr. deAdder. The show is up through month of October, I believe.

The "Urban Legends: the Stolen Kidney" is a "giclée" print on 100% cotton Somerset paper and was printed on the Iris printer at Altron Color here in New Brunswick in a limited edition of 20 prints.

The "Urban legends: The Stolen Kidney" can be purchased for $200 at the gallery or contact me at info@ericdyck.com.

Many thanks to Adriana and the gallery and especially Rose!
More info on the wonderfully absurd Stolen Kidney myth can be found here.

Eric on the wall in Calgary

I've got some special edition Mon Qui Towne's on display at the North Mount Pleasant Art Centre in Calgary this month.

Many thanks to Laurie, Aubrey and all the other folks at NMPAC!

Happy Canada Day!

'Tis the season for maps, I suppose!

Canada Day map to the food & festivities on Main.

Ever try drawing a popcorn kernel? Not as easy as I would have thought...

I'm very happy with how the fireworks turned out...the very first sketch made it into the finished drawing.

Site Map

Map of the concert-site to help you find your way around Magnetic Hill. Very handy if you are particular about which port-o-potty you want to use.

Many thanks to Sylvie!

Let the ink fly...

A map outlining the various modes of transportation that will get concert-goers to the site. I had a lot of fun making up the little icons...

...especially the hair-band lion to represent the City Zoo!

Happy Holidays from Eric Dyck!

Happy Holidays and a big "thank you!" to everyone out there for your support and interest!

Its been an exciting and busy year and the new year is shaping up to be full of surprises, wonderment and cups of coffee.

All the best to you & yours...

Christmas illos

You know its time to spend more time with "people" when a client emails you a family photo, and you think to yourself, "Hey! I know that dog!". Yikes.

A local "Toon Portrait" for the holidays...clients appreciate the fun and warm drawings that exist happily between formal portraiture and the extreme goofiness of all-out-caricature.
I was pretty careful to make sure the baby came out cuter than the dog!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Wedding Illos

Congratulations to my lil' brother and new lil' sister-in-law! They kindly asked me to design their wedding invites, and were even brave enough to let me do the lettering!

The RSVP card:

The inevitable powerpoint of baby bottoms and goofy school photos was a wedding highlight, and I was asked to whip up some title screens for the slideshow segments.

Thanks to the happy couple and we all wish them all the best!
